David Cassidy

I still can't figure out how to add a video, so please play this song while you read. You will love it! How could you not?!?!? Its a wonderful song!!!

I became a David Cassidy fan many many moons ago, way back in the 70's, when he was with the Partridge Family! I was a faithful watcher and developed my first CRUSH! (Well . . . David Cassidy and Kenny Valdez (Kenny was the little boy who lived down the street from me) He (David Cassidy) was SO cute (Ok, so was Kenny Valdez, but in totally different ways.)

I guess when I started liking David Cassidy I was hooked for a life time . . . It isn't that crazy obsessive, screaming, throwing panties kind of thing . . . it's just that he was the first star I ever really liked . . . and so now at 42 I continue to like him . . . and when he is on TV I watch . . . (How could I not???) His New show starts tonight! Roxy and the Rockits (Ok I have to admit, it looks cute but I don't see it being a long lasting show, I'll be surprised if it makes it through the whole season. But while it's on I will watch it! Ok, now would be the time where you should say, "Oh Poor TIM!! )

My BFF Jaqui will be coming over tonight to watch David's new show with me. You know that's a good friend to do something like that!! (Love ya J!!!)
Years ago when David and his younger (Not as cute) brother Sean were in the Stage play, "Blood Brothers" Jaqui and my mom went with me to go see it at the theater. I brought my book about David Cassidy, (Just in case I got the chance to meet him.)

Jaqui actually fell asleep in the theater! (Again, sorry J.) After the play was over I wanted to be one of those Groupie type people and wait out side the stage door for him to come out . . . but then I also have NEVER BEEN that type of person, so I was super nervous and scared.

When David actually came out, I was too nervous to go up and get his autograph, so Jaqui did it for me . . . (Thanks J).

David is super short! Like if we danced his head would rest on my chest! I guess when I developed my crush on him I started that short men thing . . . (Grant Beemer, my first boy friend was short, and So was Drew, Former hubby #2) (Hopefully I'm over that now!!! Tim is taller than me!!)

So at any rate, Jaqui will be here tonight to watch Ruby and the Rockits with me! Series premier. I wonder if I should get us some feather boas or something special so that we can be all fancy for it!?!? (Well at least we will crack open and bottle of wine and drink some, while we watch! I'll have to think about the feather boa thing . . .)

All Right folks . . . join with me and watch David Cassidy tonight . . . what could it hurt . . . I promise I won't tell anyone that you watched it!

Glamour Girls

Ok I'm not feeling very computer literate today, so I can't figure out how to put my video on, so here is a link. Play this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOQvcMLll4E song while you read my blog!

So, here is the scoop . . . Jaqui and I have been wanting to henna our hair for a while. It's a lot of work to do, and there is NO WAY you can do it by your self . . . so it's something you REALLY need help to do.

I went on Saturday and picked up the henna from the health food store and then Jaqui was going to come over on Sunday morning and we were going to do the henna. She brought over some booze (I can't remember what it was called, but it was pink, so I called it "The Pink Stuff") and I made Fudge Jumbles and got the stuff to cook out Hot dogs.

Then I started mixing up the henna.

If you have never done henna, it's quite the experience. What it is, is mixed herbs all ground up. (Fact~ Cleopatra Used henna on her hair to keep it shinny and beautiful.) It looks kind of like "Ground oregano" And then you add Hot water and mix. Till it's the consistency of loose baby poop. But the good part of it is, it smells like Tea . . . so Jaqui Schlooped it on to my head and we wrapped my head in Cling wrap, and then I mixed up her henna a Schlooped it on her head, and then wrapped it in Cling wrap.

Since it's very runny, we sat outside and drank our "Pink Stuff"

Here we are with our heads wrapped in our Cling wrap "Do rags" and with our pink stuff. We don't have any make up on . . . and we are looking like the beautiful GLAMOUR GIRLS we are!
It really gets drippy, and it was leaking all down Jaqui's shirt.
We are so silly . . . we had such a good time doing our hair.

This is one of the things that you can really only do with someone you have known for a million years, because anyone else would see you at your worst. But with friends like me and Jaqui we have "Already seen each other at our worst and lived to tell about it!"
We had a great day!!!
Sorry, no after pictures of what our hair looked like . . . we were too busy drinking our "Pink Stuff" and eating Fudge Jumbles!

"I go by Cyd"

I got a text from my sweet niece Jessie last night saying "I saw Cindy!" (Cindy is my older sister- Jessie's bio mom! I'm the mom of her heart!)

I was half asleep when I read the message so I had a hard time wrapping my head around what she was saying. So I talked with her this morning.
I guess she and her boy friend were out with friends, and they were in the "wrong" part of town (not the greatest section) and Jessie was waiting in the car and this "lady" (I use the word loosely) walked in front of her car.

Jessie immediately knew it was Cindy. So she had her boyfriend Aaron
go into the store and ask her if her name was Cindy. She says "I go by Cyd M----" (Dont' want to put the last name on here) Aaron was like, "oh ok." and he turned to walk away. Apparently Cindy followed him through the store saying, "how do you know me?" I wonder if she thought he was one of her kids? And she just didn't recognize him. (Which she wouldn't of course, she hasn't seen any of her children in about 12 years.) (I don't know why this picture is so small, but it's a picture of Jessie and Justin and Jeffrey.)
Jessie was shocked that she ran in to Cindy. (Jessie calls her Cindy, she calls me mom.) (Its funny, cuz I'm not that nice, If I was in my car and Cindy was walking in the parking lot in front of me, I wonder how tempting it would have been to run her over! Just kidding, but it's fun to think about. )

Jessie said that Cindy looks horrible. (This is the most recent picture we have of her. She sent this to my dad last year.) And she kept playing with her tongue . . . (Which I guess is what people do who have been on "Bad" drugs for a long time. (I didn't know that, but my other wonderful niece Rahni Rae
(Who is going to be a nurse) told that Jessie, and Jessie told me. The things you learn at 6 AM!
I actually think it's good that Jessie got to see Cindy . . . I think that based on how Cindy was that Jessie can see that Cindy hasn't changed. (And then she can tell her siblings, her version of Cindy, rather than me telling them mine.)

I still hope, that someday Cindy will pull her life together and be the kind of person she "Should be", "Could be." but at 48 years old, I don't know that she WANTS to change, and I think you have really got to want to change, want to be better, want to step past the ~ past . . . and move forward.

When We were young, I adored my sister. She was so "Cool" and "wild". I remember her trying to teach me to ride my mini bike (a little motorcycle- it's tiny.) and when I didn't really get it, she would ride me around on it.
I remember her and I walking to the gas station in Brighton and singing "Ben" By Michael Jackson. "Ben the two of us we look no more. We both found what we were looking for. With a friend to call my own, I'll never be alone, and you my friend will see . . . you got a friend in me (Got a friend in me) I used to say (I used to say) I am near (I am near) Now it's time (Now it's time) Now it's here (Now it's here)" It was wonderful!
She was all the things I wished I was . . . I was a "Good Girl" and she walked on the edge . . . she didn't think before she did things, she just ran head first in to things. I was more of a thinker. And as I got older (in my teens) I loved the way she was! I thought she was so cool! My friend Jaqui and I wanted to be like her . . . Not the BAD things she did, but the "Cool, sexy" things.
She taught me how to make "Fudge Jumbles" YUMM! and all through high school I made lots of "Fudge jumbles" for ever potluck type of thing I went to.

Printed from COOKS.COM
1 c. butter
2 eggs2
1/2 c. flour
3 c. oatmeal
12 oz. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts (optional- I never used nuts)
2 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 tbsp. butter
Cream together butter and brown sugar.
Add and stir in eggs and vanilla.
Add and mix well the flour, baking soda and oatmeal.
Spread 2/3 of mixture into bottom of 10x15 inch pan.
Melt in double boiler or microwave the chips and condensed milk.
Spread that mixture over the bottom crust.
Cover with the remaining crust. (It will be just dropped on by bits here and there.)
Bake 25 minutes at 350 degrees.

I guess why I'm saying all of this, is that She wasn't always a bad person, and even the people who don't do the right things still have redeeming things about them. For me with Cindy, it's the memories I have from when she was young, and when I was a little girl.
I am going to work really hard at not saying bad things about Cindy . . . I have always tired not to, especially to her kids. I might even try to go through some of my things and make a "Good Cindy book" for them. So they can see that she wasn't always the way she is now.

I want to remind all my kids, that the choices you make in life, really do effect you~ down the road. My good friend "Robert Redbear" told me about choices. "Choices are like the branches of a tree. You can choose to go down one branch, and it will take you to a weak limb, or you can choose to go down another branch, and it's a strong branch, big and tall, and wide and easy. You are still always on the same tree, but you get to choose where you want to be on that tree." (Don't you just love Indian logic?!?!? (I do!!), The choices we make and can take your life on a different path than what you think you are going to be on. I guess we all need to think about that as we travel this life.

I am so proud of all MY "kids", Jessie has got such a great head on her shoulders. And Rahni is going to accomplish so much! I do believe that the things we go through in our lives make us stronger . . . and my girls have gone through a lot. They have accomplished great things. And I know in my heart of heart that because of the hardships they have had in the past, they know where they DON'T want to be . . . and will work to make their lives better.

More July Scrapbooking

This is Alex when he was little, The square behind the paper is one of the ACBailey papers . . . super pretty stuff. Avery wanted to go to school when Tony went to Kindergarten but then he was a little nervous when he finally got to go to Preschool. But he had a great time in Preschool! Wonderful teachers and happy days!
I love this picture of Tony! Its so classic him! He knew I had the camera out and wanted to take his picture so what does he do? He closes his eyes! Goofy boy!

Two layouts like this, with the song, "Futures so bright I gotta wear shades" The first is Alex, the second is Tony.
My "Basketball" boy . . . NOT. Since he was so tall everyone "Thought" he should play basketball, and since everyone thought that, he decided he wasn't going to.

They always hated when I dressed them up like I wanted to, so I had to get my fill when they were babies! Here is Avery dressed as a bunny!
Avery again, playing his brothers t-ball. The pictures aren't great. But the last photo shows that he hit himself in the face with the ball! Too cute!
Have I ever mentioned that I'm not a very nice person?? Well, sometimes I am, well. . . . I guess most of the time I am . . . just not when it comes to my older sister. (We don't get along at all!) So when I came across these pictures of my sister out visiting, I knew I needed to scrapbook it for my dads book. It took everything in me not to write something snarky . . . I love being snarky! But I contained myself. I was a good girl! Are you proud??? You should be, because I could have been a VERY BAD GIRL on these pictures! (There were more, I just didn't put them on the page, because that would have lead to me being bad!)
Avery went to visit his best friend Johnny in Arizona, I was having surgery that same day. I wrote him a letter and put it in his suit case. He pretends that he isn't sentimental, but, the letter came back with him . . . he kept it rather than throwing it away. So when I got the pictures from his trip I decided to put the note I wrote with a picture of his trip. It isn't the greatest layout, but it documents the time.
My beautiful Avery Baby . . . Sometimes a picture truly is worth a 1000 words.
Avery took Hockey lessons once . . . isn't he cute? He was so little!

Well that's about it from me for now. So far for the month of July I have made 65 scrapbook pages. I don't know how much more I will get done, but I really feel as though I have been productive.

I didn't really want Boxers . . . I didn't think they would be good dogs . . . I didn't think they were really all that cute . . . And then, this boxer came into our lives.

Jade . . . She is so stinking cute! She was just a baby back then when this picture was taken.
Jade, right after we got her, the boys took her out to the lake and made her swim. Based on her ears I don't think she really liked it much.

This is Jade now, she was outside last night "Helping" Tim put in the Swamp cooler. She is this beautiful copper color! and when people see her at the dog park they totally fall in love with her. (Just don't take her out with ALL her dogs, because she becomes Ubber protective of them, and starts fights.)
And here is the newest addition to the family, we have had him about 5 weeks, he has gone from 11 pounds to over 20, he doesn't potty in the house (much~ He's actually really good about it.) and now he sits when he is going to get a treat (just like the other dogs do)
Where Jade is more copper colored, Durbin is more blond.
But I think they look a lot alike.
He is a bit more serious than Jade, who is more like Tony's personality, happy go lucky. Durbin is more like Avery . . . there is a reason for everything~ kind of person.
This photo was taken last night. Jade was busy "helping" Tim and Durbin was busy taking sticks from the back yard and bringing them into the house to chew up- on my freshly steam cleaned carpets. (notice the thing hanging from his jowl . . . part of the stick) When it wasn't enough for him to play with sticks he went and found Tony's jammie pants and started dragging them around with him.
He is a strange little puppy!
Both of these dogs are some of the best I have ever had! I truly enjoy them! So much for me not liking boxers!

Lots of little things

My cousin Blake is getting married. I don't know him well . . . but I got an invitation to the wedding, which was exciting because usually my Adamson family excludes me from everything (But that's a topic for another time)

I think the wedding invitation is BEAUTIFUL!! They are getting married in Belize~ Fun fun! I see a lot of invitations, and I really like this one, you can tell it was all custom done! Very nice.

I was hungry for Sloppy Joe's last night . . . the sound of them had my mouth watering, but I don't know if my tummy can eat Beef much any more . . .I seem to get a tummy ache any time I eat beef. Do you have that problem? I have heard that if you don't eat a lot of beef, that you loose the enzyme in your tummy that helps to break it down. I wonder if that is what has happened to me. What do you think?

Its HOT HOT HOT . . . (And no I don't know how to read Spanish, but I didn't want to walk around the box to find the English side) With the insurance money from the hail/tornado, we bought a BIG swamp cooler!!! Tim is going to be putting it in today! Yippee!!!
Also, can you explain to me why Tony and Avery's cars are in the garage and mine and Tim's are outside?

Antarctica~ Alex wants to take the job in Antarctica for 5 months. I don't think I would actually mind him going. I think it would be nice if Tony would go too (Rather than The marines~ and no I don't know if he is going to go in or not, he hasn't told me) But I think Antarctica would be great because it only a 5 month commitment, and it would give them the adventure they want . . . without the WAR or the long term commitment. And it would get Tony away from Brooke! Which would be wonderful in my world!

Yesterday was Tony's birthday. He is 19 now! But since he just had his wisdom teeth out, he can't eat real food. And so rather than buying him a cake that he can't eat, I got him a cookie . . . Happy birthday Tony! (He can't eat the cookie either, but I feel better than if he had wasted a cake)

July 16th is the anniversary of the day my mom and dad met! and so my dad had this CAKE made for my mom with an old picture from when they were young. (They have been together for 39 years) He took one of his scrapbook pages in to the store and had them copy the picture! I think that is so cute! I think he really likes his scrapbook!

Well that's it in a nut shell . . .
